The sculptures are the scale of human body like the origins of egyptian and greek columns. The armature is solid carved wood and I like wood as it is living and vulnerable like we are, not so much of the monumental as it yields to a nick or the chisel.

Often transparent layers of paint is alternately applied and choreagraphed on the wood armature. The hue chosen as appropriate to the design of the form.  A frozen flow, the cascade of paint a pulling of matter down with gravity as the energy of the weighted core usually floats improbably upward. The pigment is sometimes removed selectively, the identity of the solid structure is important, the downward weightiness of the object to be felt. The skin is alternately separate and fused with the form- the merging of object and emotion.
